The Story of EDGE
Daniel Pradère and Francis Jacquey, two experienced captains, founded Planète Mer Services in 1998 to formalize their maritime work. Specializing in the delivery of sailboats and motor yachts, the company quickly shifted towards crew management due to high demand. Through strict compliance with French maritime legislation, the company gained significant trust from regulatory authorities.
In 2021, the founders transferred the company to Thomas Kieffer, a sailing enthusiast and graduate of Sciences-Po, who aims to continue the company’s development. The team is committed to ensuring the safety of both current and future yacht owners and sailors.
Following the successful launch of EDGE SHIP in December 2022, the EDGE management team made the strategic decision to diversify its crew and yacht management activities by launching new subsidiaries to meet the growing demand for highly skilled crews.
In 2023, EDGE SHIP took a bold step by acquiring MS-YACHTS, a well-established yacht management company, and enabling its expansion into Cannes. This expansion allowed EDGE SHIP to broaden its geographical reach and offer its luxury yacht management services to a more diverse clientele.
n the same year, EDGE INTERNATIONAL was officially launched, expanding EDGE’s influence beyond the continent by opening a subsidiary in Mauritius. This expansion strengthened EDGE’s position in the global luxury market, offering clients a comprehensive solution to all their yacht management needs.
In January 2024, Planète Mer Services (PMS) was rebranded as EDGE CREW, marking its full integration into the EDGE group. Under this new identity, EDGE CREW continued to focus on recruiting yacht crews while emphasizing the highest possible social protection for professional sailors, selective recruitment, and ongoing training, further enhancing EDGE’s reputation as a company focused on excellence and premium service.
